Left Willow Spring, MO and drove on the straight roads westward. Not a whole lot to see but the wide open plains. We did drive on..............
Route 66 for several miles. It use to be the main roadway from Chicago to California years ago. Then took Hwy 400 all the way across ...............
Kansas and more............
flat land and open plains. The Hwy is mostly 2 lane, but not much traffic at all. It was very windy though and shook the Pony around a bit.
This is a man's yard art he had displayed along the way. I'm pretty sure it is the same one we saw on American Pickers one time. This guys name was Remus and he named his yard art after girls names.
We then made it to Dodge City, but pretty much everything was closed for the day. Looks like it would have been a pretty neat museum to tour.
This is the different buildings you could go through. I looked for Wyatt Earp, but he was nowhere to be found.
I think the highlight of the day was watching storms for miles away. It would be sunny as far as you could see on one side and raining and lightning on the other. We never ran through much rain at all. And at the end of the day we stopped in......
Garden City, KS with a beautiful rainbow when we stopped.
I know nothing has been very exciting so far, but hopefully the next few days will be better. We are still 4 hours away from Pikes Peak so not sure if we will do that tomorrow or Saturday.
