Nice quiet day at the beach. Pretty much have the whole place to ourselves.

The drive to the park was 3 miles of a canopied covered road. These trees are all over around here.

Haunted Houses at Fernadina Beach

This morning we drove back to Fernadina Beach and took some picture of some of the old houses in the area. Some of them have haunted tales about them. 

Waas House, built in 1856

 Fairbanks House, built in 1885 for the local newspaper editor.

 Bailey house, built in 1895 for a steamship agent.

 Tabby House, built in 1885. The structure of the house is made from crushed shells and concrete.

 This is the Florida House, built in 1857. It is the oldest operating hotel in Florida. General Ulysses S. Grant stayed here when he was campaigning for President in 1866. Several ghost stories from people that have stayed here.

 Hoyt House, built in 1905.

This is just a few of the beautiful homes in the area. Most were hard to take pictures of because of the huge trees. We also went to Fort Clinch State Park. Pictures and blog to follow later. Now it is time to hit the beach. That is if I can stand the heat. The temperature is only 88, but heat index is 102. 

Amelia Island

Yesterday we just road around Fernadina Beach. They were having a street fair and we did a little food sampling. Walked the streets of the city. There are some very pretty old homes here and will probably go back and take our time looking around.

2013 New Years through Sept. Catching UP!

 On New Years weekend, we took Nolen, Mitchell, and my Mom to Virginia. The boys finally got to see a good snow. It was a fast fun filled weekend. The boy's got to play in the snow.

We went to a ski lodge, but the power was out so they couldn't do anything and then we went back to visit,,,,,

This was Easter Sunday at our house.

Mitchell was baptized by his daddy, and 

Uncle John also baptized Nolen.

Then it was time for Shelby's school program.

Now it is time to take our vacation. I was really catching up on the blog to make sure I still knew how to do it, because seems like the only time I really blog is when we travel. Maybe this will inspire me to keep it up. Looks like I need a little brushing up, on my blogging. I'll have to work on that while I'm on my trip.
