My nephew Jeremy Leaving for the Air Force

This has been a sad but joyful week. We are so sad that Jeremy (my nephew) is going to be going away from home, but happy that he is reaching a dream that he has wanted for quite some time. We are so proud of Jeremy. He has lost an enormous amount of weight, just so he could join the Air Force. He has been so disciplined. When he first started coming here on Thursday nights he could sure put away the food. When he started trying to lose weight, I would always cook something that he could eat to help him stay on track. I would fix Weight Watcher friendly desserts and he still only ate small amounts. If it was something that was really fattening, Buddy would try to tempt him and he wouldn't take a bite.

This week our church had a special service and honored Jeremy. I don't have pic's as they are on Kristin's camera, but will try to insert them tomorrow. It was a very special service. Those attending were his dad (My brother Barry) and his mom, and her parents and grandparents, Jacob, his cousin Autumn, along with our gang.

After church we went to Barry & Cande's house for Jeremy's Christmas. The menu was planned by Jeremy, so we had taco salad, cheese dip, and cherry crunch for dessert. That is his favorite meal, his mom said. He then opened his presents.

We had our weekly Thursday meal on Tuesday this week. Jeremy's request for his last meal here was Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches. I also had roasted red potatoes, and roasted mixed veggies. Dessert was Apple Toffee Tart with Ice Cream. When he came in he said he hadn't eaten for 24 hrs, just so he could eat what he wanted at my house. That boy ate 2 Philly Steak Sandwiches plus all the other. Whew, don't know where he put it. Then he opened his present from us.

Jeremy leaves next Tuesday to go into the Air Force. His base will be in Texas. He will have no phone contact with anyone for 8 weeks. As a mother, I just can't imagine, how hard this will be on Cande. The only communication anyone can have is by mail. For you young folks, can you imagine not having your cell phone to call someone or to text, your Wii or PlayStation to play on, your computer to surf or e-mail, a car to drive, the freedom to go anywhere you want, and especially for him he loved to fish and hunt. Well, that is how it is going to be for him for 10 weeks. Please everyone keep him in your prayers. Jeremy we sure are going to miss you, and when you are home on leave, you will have a hot meal ready whatever day it is. We can always rearrange our Thursday night bash.

Jeremy is getting a little big for Uncle Buddy to give him a noogie. Had to make him bend down. Along with the noogies, Buddy started something a long time ago throwing Jeremy a biscuit during our Christmas breakfast. He didn't want him to feel left out since he wouldn't be here for it and so he threw him a cookie while he was opening his presents. Sure wish I had known he was going to do it. That would have been a great picture.

Helping Jeremy open his Christmas present. Jeremy loves to fish, so I bought him a mini-tree and put fish ornaments on it. The boys were not in the picture taking mode.

Okay so each week or however often you make a post I read it because it just puts me into the world of Stanford's. And it's not often that I'll post a comment, I have to tell you this was a great blog. And what a great way to celebrate the life of this young man and a life that he's yet to lead. You guys do it right and that's one of the great things I love about the Stanford's, Kidds, and Williams. What a joy to know you all,
