Missing Jeremy

We once again gathered together for a meal at our house. This weeks meal was: Salad, Potato cheese soup, Taco soup, Reuben sandwich bake, flat bread pizzas, & Funnel Cakes for dessert. I'm loving this time change, because it gives the boys time to play outside after we eat. After it got too dark to play outside the boys all played bingo to win money for a trip to McDonald's. Nolen was ready to quit after he didn't win the first game, but he finally hung in there and won. (Of course the plan was for all of them to win) As always we end up talking about when we are going to get to see Jeremy. We miss him so much. We did get to talk to him on the phone last night though. He said he missed us all a lot. The boys all talked to him too as you will see in the pics. Jeremy said he would be home on leave around the end of May. So we will have to give him a late birthday party and it will be a big celebration. Can't wait to see him.
Mom & Dad eating their funnel cakes.
This is for you Jeremy. We miss you very much. Love that sweet Trevor smile. Cheese!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nolen wanted me to take this pic of the sunset. He was saying send this to Jeremy.
Yes, Jeremy I can't wait to see you, too. I miss you very much. Jeremy must have been telling Nolen how much he missed him. What a sad look. Trevor was listening to every word he said.

Never leave Mitchell unattended

We kept Mitchell Friday night, while John and Kristin went on a date. I have a gate on my stairs to keep the little ones from going up. Well, Mitchell (or Mr. Incredible) that's what he calls himself, decided he would find another way to get to the cat upstairs. We were watching TV and looked over and he was on his way up the stairs on the outside. Buddy stood right under him to see how far he would go. The boy isn't afraid of anything, which is kind of scary.
Craig and his family are back from Gatlinburg. He posted several pics from their trip on facebook if you have him on your list. I'm sure Jamie will post a blog about it also.
On the way up
Almost there Made it.
Now how do I get down? Spiderman fighting with Papaw Papaw and Mitchell watching cartoons, winding down for the night.

Crazy Weather

This has been once again a crazy weather week. 80 degrees and in shorts one day and snowing 2 days later. Last time Kristin was pregnant, I took belly shots of her each month to see the progression. Last time I made her pull up her shirt so I could see the belly, I'll be nicer this time and let her leave the shirt down. Of course Mitchell had to get in on the act too.
Last night we had our usual Thursday night meal with family, except we were missing a few. Craig, Jamie and the boys are in Gatlinburg, so we missed them. But, Jonathan came and ate with us. It was good to be able to visit with him, even though I still can't talk very well. I've never had larangitis before and it is kind of frustrating trying to get someone to understand what you are saying. We had salad, turkey meatballs, roasted potatoes, roasted zucchini, & bruschetta. After dinner Mitchell entertained us. Kristin is working hard on the potty training, now. This should be a good week for that since he will be off for spring break next week. He has done really good. He wears his big boy pants during the day. She said that Wednesday night he didn't want to put his diaper on to go to bed. I happened to have some pull-up here at the house. We made a big deal about them so he wouldn't think of them as diapers, so he would wear them to bed. He was handing everyone a pair of them, and then him and Papaw starting clowning around.
Jeremy called to talk to all of us. I tried to talk but only got a few squeaks out. He is doing really good. Buddy had to rub it in that someone had caught a 28" Trout out of Caney Fork (where he goes fishing up here) He is pretty excited that the air force base where he is going to be stationed in Missouri has a State Park right next to his base,(Whiteman Air Force Base) where he can go fishing. It is Knob Noster State Park.
Until next time LIFE is good on Grandma's Hill

Spring Has Sprung

This hasn't been the greatest week, but things can only get better. On Monday I went on to the foot dr. to have him check my toe. He x-rayed it to confirm yes it was broke. Well, I pretty much knew that, just wanted to make sure I was taping it up right, because there isn't anything that can be done for a broken toe. While I was there I planned on talking to him about setting up a time to get my hammertoe fixed so I could get my orthodics made. He looked at me and said "Why don't we do it now?" I thought, Why not same foot, might as well while the broken toe was mending. I didn't even have time to think about it. So he gave me several shots of something to deaden my foot. Slit that toe and tie it back up. DONE! Now for problem #2. Two days later I got the crud. This is my third bout with it this winter and each time I have gotten sick was after going to the dr. for regular check ups for different things. Come home from the dr. and get sick, now what is wrong with this picture. Seems like there sure have been a lot of this going around this year. This too shall pass. That's why I didn't cook on Thursday night for the family.
Wednesday I made beef jerky for Jeremy and mom made him some cornbread and we shipped it to him. He got it yesterday and called to let us know how much he appreciated it. Those little things from home, mean a lot to him I guess. When he called mom yesterday to let her know he got it, he said he was headed to the mall on the bus. So at least he does get to get out some now.
On a fresher note. It was a beautiful day today. You can definately see signs of spring all around. The Bradford's are blooming and daffy's are up. The grass has really greened up this week, so that means I get to get back on my tractor soon. Buddy went to dad's and got his tractor to till the garden up. I haven't had a garden in probably 8-10 years other than tomatoes, so maybe I can save some $$$ by growing my own produce. Just hope it don't turn out hot and dry this summer. I always loved working in the garden but when it gets in the upper 90's I just can't take it like I did when I was in my 20's & 30's. So that was our week at the Sanford's.
Bradford trees are not completely full but well on their way.
Day lilies are springing up everywhere. Garden looks good after going over it several times These 3 pics are for Debbie and Susie
