Camping Week

We left Sunday afternoon for another week of me camping at Defeated Creek. Craig brought Nolen by the house and we waited on Mitchell to wake up from his nap. Buddy had already headed up to set the camper up. The boys talked the whole way up there, talking about what they were going to do. When we got there it was too late to do much so we just hung around the campsite and they played, took a bike ride and then it was time to eat. We had taco's for dinner. After dark they were wanting to watch a movie, so I pulled out the couch bed and Nolen was asleep in no time. Buddy had to leave around 5:00 to go to work. After a good nights sleep the boys were awake at 6:30 ready to go. I had them watch a little tv while I was straightening things up in the camper. We were at the park by 7:30. They played there for about 1 1/2 hrs, and then we came back and ate breakfast. By then it was time to go feed the fish. We were down there awhile & I noticed Nolen starting to breath pretty hard. He had already had a treatment earlier, so called Craig and they were already on their way to spend the day. They gave Nolen another treatment and he seemed to settle down after awhile. The rest of us went to the lake and Jamie stayed in the camper with Nolen, but he was so upset she decided it wouldn't hurt him for a little while to play at the lake. They did have a good time for what little time they got to spend up there. Nolen had to go back home with them because I didn't want him having an asthma attack up there with just me & Mitchell. Different things trigger his asthma and it is so frustrating for him. He just wants to be normal. After they left Mitchell took a good nap and afterward we played outside. Buddy was working not far from where we were so decided to come on back and spend the night. We took Mitchell fishing and walking around to see the deer. Tuesday morning Kristin came up to spend the day & they left around 5:00. I had Wednesday & Thursday by myself. Did a lot of walking, crocheting & reading. Buddy came back up on Thursday night planning on having Friday off. He had some swelling come up in his neck and it was hurting him so he had to go all the way back to Nashville to his dr. So his day off was really not that at all. Craig brought the boys up Friday to spend the day. They left around 4:00. By Friday the weather was feeling really good. Saturday it was so cool we had to put on sweatshirts by the evening. Sunday we just sat out and read until time to pack up and come home. Another great week at Defeated Creek.
Headed to the park.

The wormie that was going to catch him the big fish. Showing me his fish that he caught. Every evening we would see over a dozen deer bedding down for the night.

Let's go Camping

I will be leaving Sunday for another week of camping. Buddy will pull the camper to the campground and get me all set up. He will spend the night and be back the end of the week. I'll be taking Mitchell up with me, since Kristin has a lot of work that came in for her to do. She will come back and get him on Tuesday. Craig was planning on taking his family to the beach, but he is still not sure if they are going to get to go or not. If they don't go, I'll take Nolen up with us too. I don't think I'm quite ready to take 3 on my own just yet. Trevor will get his turn eventually of getting to spend the night in the camper. Not sure how my internet will be working on my laptop up there. It just depends on the spot we are in. Some places are better than others. Thank goodness for the Iphone, I'm still in touch with the world.
Today Me & Kristin went to Carla Cotham Moyer's baby shower. She is due 4 weeks after Kristin. Carla & Kristin played ball together for several years starting at 11 years old. Carla's dad (David) was their softball coach and a wonderful man that all the girls respected and loved. He taught many girls how to be a better softball player. Carla's dad passed away shortly after finding out she was pregnant. He will be greatly missed by all.

Happy Birthday Craig

Today is Craig's birthday. Wow, 31 years old. So hard to believe. They grow up way too fast. All you mom's out there with little ones, that seem to get frustrated with them; just remember, in the blink of an eye they are grown and gone from home. So enjoy every minute you have with them. You will have plenty of me time sooner than you think. Craig & Kristin both were such easy going and fun kids. I know they both practically grew up at the ballpark, but I don't think they minded it so much, because there were always friends to play with. We lived on a dead end street and so they only had each other to play with. They really got along great to be brother and sister. I'm thankful too, that they are still close today. I'm a lucky mom to have had such good respectful and loving children.
Last night we had Craig's birthday dinner. He always requests stir fry. I stir fried veggies, had steak & chicken, fried rice, egg rolls, chinese dumplings and corn on the cob. He has never been much of a sweet eater. He is that much like me. I would rather have potato chips than a piece of chocolate any day. So instead of a cake he wanted some cornbread. So my mom made the cornbread and we put candles on it. I also did make some brownies for the rest.

I guess that is enough for the first round. Big plate was full so had to come back to get another one for his corn. Craig with his birthday cake (Cornbread)

August is here

This week was a little slower paced than last week. I canned another 21 qts of green beans, up to 53 qts so far. Also canned some more salsa. About all that is left in the garden is some watermelon, okra, more beans, jalapenos & tomatoes.
Thursday night dinner was Make Your Own Pizza night. Along with that we had taco soup, salad and I made Homemade KitKat Bars for dessert. The kids swam before eating and afterward played in the front yard throwing water bombs. Craig was working so didn't get to join us this week.
Not sure if you can really tell how big the pumpkin is. But if you look in the background that is a kids picnic table.
Mitchell found him a nice big orange seat Kristin 7 1/2 months. Not sure what kind of dance Mitchell is doing. Mitchell kissing Shelby. Looks more like he is biting her. Trevor on a mission Innocent little Mitchell (HA)
