West Coast Trip - Day 4

This morning we were lucky enough to get to see this shipwrecked vessel while it was low tide. When it is high tide you can only see about half of this.

To give you an idea of how big the ship was, this was standing in the back of it looking forward. The rest of it has sunk into the sand shore over the years. The closest poles you see in the picture are the masts that held up the sails. It was 287 ft. long.
Another view from higher up to show the length of it.

On down the coast were some amazing views. At some points you were high up on the cliffs and then the road would take you right down to the shore.

This was at a hight point

On down the coast is the town of Tillamook, which has a huge cheese & ice cream factory that you can tour and taste. Since it was Labor day, there wasn't much going on, but we did get to taste all the cheeses they made and skipped the ice cream.

 More coastline

We at lunch in this little town. There were only 2 restaurants, but lots of house on the cliffs. The 2 pictures above were taken in the same area.
After lunch we drove a short way to Cape Mears Lighthouse.

And once again not knowing where we are going to stay, got lucky again and got an ocean front hotel at a very reasonable price.

Great end to a wonderful day

More pics of our same day with our bigger camera lens
There is quite a drop down to the water from this cliff, pictures just don't do it justice.

Buddy loved this rock. Just look and see if you see the eyes and nose.
