Tawas Point Lighthouse

Today we left Mackinaw City and took Hwy 23 around the eastern coast of Michigan. We stopped and saw a couple of lighthouses that we had seen before. When we were at Presque Isle light, the lady working there let us in on something we didn't know about. It was the NOAA Maritime Research Center. There were over 160 shipwrecks off of this one area. Scientists and divers are there all the time doing research and trying to find the lost ships. Several of them have still not been found, that went down over a hundred years ago. A very interesting place to stop. It was mostly cloudy all day and cool. The clouds don't make good pics for lighthouses. The very last one we saw, which was one we hadn't seen before, the skies finally cleared. We are now in Bay City, MI. We will go up the last leg of the coast, see a few more lighthouses, then Sunday go to the Ford Museum.
