Day 5 Adirondacks

Sunset tonight.

We left out this morning around 8:00. Had to wash the pony as she was getting a bit dusty. Started out in the lower left of the Adirondacks and drove northeast, through Old Forge, Saranac Lake, & Lake Placid. It really wasn't what I thought it would be. I thought it was going to be very mountainous. But instead along the way we passed lake after lake, which as most of you know, I love seeing the water. It was just mostly forest and lakes. Around Lake Placid which is where the Olympics was held in 1980, was the most popular area. Lots of shops and that was where the mountains were. After leaving there we happened upon Ausable Chasm. It is a deep gorge, which you can hike around 16 miles if you want. We just took pics of what we could see and moved on.We then caught a 12 min.ferry across Lake Champlain to save us about an hour of driving. We have landed for the night in Burliongton, VT with a pretty good view of Lake Champlain. Tomorrow onto Maine and waiting on the rain.
One of the many lakes we saw through the Adirondacks. Nothing prettier than blue sky against blue water.
Seaplane getting ready to take off.

And he's up.
View from hilltop looking down on pretty church in Lake Placid.
Shops in Lake Placid on Main St.
Lake Placid
Lake Placid, ski slopes on the back mountain you see.
Sure wish sound came with this picture.
This was a place that we just happened upon.
None of these pics give justice to the chasm. It was very deep.

Lake Champlain and Vermont Mtns. Kind of hazy, but you get the picture of how pretty it is.

I'm enjoying following your trip! The mountains look absolutely beautiful! Wish I were there to paint them! :) Chelsea and William are here, so we're about to go to the grocery and get some food to make for dinner! Love you, and can't wait to see more pictures!

Love,
Jess
