Day 7 Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor

We left this morning around 8:00 a.m. and drove 60 miles east to Acadia National Park. We took a 2 1/2 hr. tour on a trolley, which enabled Buddy to be able to see also. He is usually driving and don't get to see as much as I do as we are traveling. Our guide was very good. When we got back it was just starting to drizzle. We ate lunch at a restaurant in Bay Harbor down by the bay but had to take a window seat instead of outside. Our waiter told us this was a very good time of year to come. He said summer and into fall is very busy. There were very few people in the town. After lunch we went and found another lighthouse. By then it was raining pretty good so we came back, drove around Belfast, which is where we are staying. We weren't very hungry so we just ordered a meal from the restaurant here at the hotel and split it. Still not sure which direction we are going tomorrow. Depends on the weather. I know one thing the grey skies today sure didn't make for very good pics.
View from Cadillac Mountain in Acadia Park.

The mountain is all granite.
Flowers are just starting to bloom.

This is the only house on this side of the island that survived a fire in 1947. They actually call them cottages, I call them mansions, they are huge. The man told his girlfriend he was building the house for her. She wouldn't commit to the marriage and went back to Germany. She was coming back to see it and was on the Titanic and went down. So what a mystery, was she coming back to marry him or not? May have to double click to see it.
Sandy beach if you can brave it. Highest the water temp. gets in the summer is 57 degrees.
Rocky shores around Acadia.

This is where we ate lunch. It was right on the water but was raining so had to sit inside. It was very good.
Some extremely good clam chowder or as they say around here (chowdah)
Once again Lobster Rolls, and red potatos, (not as good as we had yesterday, but still tasty)
This is Geddy's, it has a live web cam on the side of the building. I look at it in the winter when they have snow, so it was neat to actually see where it was.
This is a private residence so didn't get a very good pic, plus it was starting to rain.

I love the mountain made out of granite. The water's probably cold, but it's still beautiful! I've really enjoyed reading about your trip so far! Thanks for posting everyday!

:)

Love you!
